You don’t have to deprive yourself of traditional comfort foods, just because you’ve decided to better eating choices. This recipe for meatballs and tomato sauce is a favourite in our house, is delicious, and just loaded with veggies!
Healthy Meatballs
- 2 pounds grass-fed ground beef
- 1 large onion – peeled and chopped coarsely
- 1 large organic carrot, peeled and chopped coarsely, or about 1 cup baby carrots
- 4-5 celery sprigs, chopped coarsely
- 2 tbsp organic Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp sea salt
- 1tbsp organic Italian seasoning
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Place onion, carrots and celery in the food processor and pulse until very fine, almost paste-like, but not watery. Pour the veggie mix into a large bowl, along with the grass-fed beefs and spices. Mix really well, using a wooden spoon or your hands.
Form meatballs with the mixture and place on prepared cookie sheets. This recipe will make about 42 large meatballs or double the amount of small ones.
Bake for 15 min and broil for 5 min to achieve a golden exterior.

Easy Tangy Tomato Sauce
This is an easy version that tastes fresh and tangy and beats most pre-made tomato sauces that are full of preservatives or made with canola oil.
- 1 720ml Bottle of Organic Tomato Puree
- 1-2 garlic cloves crushed
- Tablespoon of fresh herbs such as basil and oregano, or dried herbs such as Italian seasoning
Place all ingredients in a med sized pot and allow to simmer for 20 min.
